2’500 sq ft new build single storey cottage on a 4 acre private island on Lake Nipissing, Ontario. Commissioned by a mountaineering enthusiast the structure is elevated to accommodate a climbing cavern with vertical and horizontal practice routes.
The house features a living green roof, suspended fireplaces and marble clad bathrooms. Large format glazing panels open views across the lake and through the house, with frameless windows minimising visual clutter. Elevations in warm natural timber are set off by a concrete wall framing west sunsets. Bridges span fissures in the granite bedrock linking to an entertaining veranda, bunkies, a sauna and sun decks.
